The Beatles and The Mansons

A few months ago I had a fascinating conversation with a work friend and this chart has been ruminating in my mind ever since. This flowchart is kinda weird. it's a little morbid, and a bit odd. But the subject matter is strangely compelling.

As an avid Beatles fan, I have always been aware of the connections between them and the terrible acts perpetrated in 1969 by The Manson Family. The Beatles, who's predominant message was Love, being tied to a group of dirty hippies who just wanted to spread fear and hate seems so bizarre. Charles Manson actually believed that The Beatles were on the same wavelength as him, when he was the antithesis of everything they believed in. The Anti-Lennon, if you will.

So, that's interesting enough, but throw in the connections with The Beach Boys, The Dakota Building in New York and Doris Day and it just becomes fascinating.
Yet again, a flow chart reminds me that everything is connected. Good and Bad, beautiful and tragic. Everyone is just a few steps away from everyone else.

Family Portrait

How beautiful are these leaves?
How cute is my family?
I don't have those My Family stickers on my car (because they make me wanna punch a kitten) but I am totally going to tape these leaves to my rear window.

The end.

Super Easy Wreath DIY

Ok, so this is the easiest wreath you will ever make. If you choose to make it. If not, this is the easiest wreath you have ever looked at a picture of. Yeah man.

Because I forgot to take pics while I was making it, I drew some drawings instead!

1. Embroidery Hoop. I used a smallish one, but go crazy, use whatever size you want. I was actually tempted to use the stupid hula hoop. But I restrained myself.

2. As strip of pretty fabric. I think it was about 60-ish cm long and about 15cm wide.... I think. Wrap the fabric around the hoop, making sure you cover all of it.

3. Small pieces of ribbon. Long enough to tie into bows. Tie the fabric onto the hoop with the ribbon at even intervals. No sewing here, dude.

4. Felt brooches. Now, I have a stash of brooches i made, so I used those- just pinned them on! You could also use any pretty brooches and pins you have, or you could make some felt flowers specifically for the wreath. You could stick other cute things on there too.. like Christmas baubles, little reindeers, tiny shrunken heads..... Whatever gets you in the Christmas mood.

And there it is. The laziest, easiest, cutest wreath you ever did see!

Do you make you own Christmas Decorations?

hey blog

Hey Blog.
How you doing?
It's been a while, yeah?
I have missed you. I think about you all the time... But for some reason, I can't seem to make it here.
To you.
I think of stories I wanna tell you..

Crap stories, like how a lady patted my stomach at work the other day, and said cheerily, "Oh, is there another one in there? You're brave, aren't you?" I replied, "No, I'm just fat." When I saw the horrified look on her face, I felt bad. It's not her fault. It's wines fault.

Cool stories, like  how I have finished updating my Stephen King flow chart and am looking to send it to print very soon. It is awesome and I think the Stephen King people are going to like it. A LOT.

Or how Gav and I went to the pool while all the kids were away. Just the two of us. Nothing special. It was just lovely.

I wanna talk to you about how things have been hard and shit fairly consistently for the last few months. But I don't want to sound like a whinger. I know there are people who have it way harder than I do. I know my problems are lame and I should  just shake it off and get on with it. I would if I could, Blog. I totally would. I feel stuck. I don't wanna be stuck.

I think about the fun times we have had. Like when we were on the New Yorker Online. And all the cool people we have met together. And how I am super proud of you and feel very guilty for neglecting you.

I miss you Blog. But I'll see you real soon.

*could also be written to all my friends and most of my family.
